He was Thornton’s all-time leading scorer with more than
1,600 points. He was a two-time All-Stater and the Chicago Sun-Times Player
of the Year in 1970. He averaged 29 points as a junior and 35 as a senior on
teams that won 46 of 57 games. At Cincinnati, he finished second to Oscar
Robertson on the school’s all-time scoring list. He played professional
basketball in Europe and with the Virginia Squires of the ABA. He coached at
Eastern Illinois, South Suburban College, Gage Park, Bowen, Waukegan and
South Shore. Presently, he is dean of students at Chicago Vocational.
